Stung? Take an onion?
1. a) How might the use of an ice cube help ease the pain from any type of sting?
b) Would it help to destroy the chemicals present in the sting?
2. The sting of a wasp is alkaline.
a) Why can vinegar be used to treat wasp stings?
b) Test an onion with damp indicator paper to see if it might work in the same way as vinegar?
c) Would a jar of pickled onions be just as effective or possibly more effective than a raw onion?
3. Why can a dilute solution of ammonia be useful for treating bee stings and nettle rash?
4. Ask some older people if they know of any other homemade treatments? Can you suggest or investigate how they might work?
